The discharge manager attempted to manipulate my father into signing a forum to send me to a state hospital for a year simply because she was either too incompetent or too lazy to find placement for me which is blatant malpractice. The techs would intentionally antagonize people in order to get them in legal trouble. The facility is completely unsanitary having only two bathrooms for around 50 patients. No smoking section which is probably the only mild complaint I have. The \"therapy\" they provide is music and yoga outside. I've seen both staff and other patients assault other patients without any form of repercussions. I was discharged on the wrong day which led to complications. They shamed me for returning. I went in 2020 in a crisis. Saw Dr.Tabrah and was put on trials for multiple medications until we found two that worked best for me. Had to go in every month in order to get refills but sometimes would run out because her schedule was always booked. She was rude from the beginning but it came to a point where she wanted me to go to a neurologist because she was concerned about me having seizures. After multiple expensive tests at the Neurologist it was determined that I needed to continue psychiatric treatment. When I went back Dr.Tabrah saw that everything with the Neurologist was otherwise normal, her respone,\"What do you want me to do about it?\" Just overall very rude. So I left and continued the same meds for a year before tapering off of them myself. Now I'm living my best life. Be aware these medications will destroy your functionality in life and DLC just seems to want to keep you medicated forever without even getting to the root of the problem and getting you back to being functional. The most helpful thing I had done was go to Counseling of Southwest Florida for Cognitive Behavioral therapy as well as trauma therapy. They listened and helped give me tools to get through everyday life. Also there is alot of turnover. Inadequate staff providers, dangerously lax in knowledge of medications. Ones well being is NOT a priority. Will contact Collier County Board of Commissioners. Private donors need to be updated on where their donations are being used. The public must know that a \"murderer\" was evaluated at this facility and released to St Matthew's House. But- the public doesn't know the truth. David Lawrence evaluated this person and released him to go into population. IF- their evaluation was considered a stay to observe, the woman sleeping in her car next to St Matthew's House would still be alive. David Lawrence made a huge mistake, so is covering up their negligence and inadequacy. This murdered woman was some one's mother, sister, experiencing some hard times, but no one protected her from a seriously mentally ill person who murdered her for no reason. I started receiving MH service through DLC via the VA Community Care program. After 3 different attempts to get service at DLC I decided to discard them. Their mental health providers can provide services only at certain hours of the day, even via video conference ( which in order to reach them this way you have to go to the DLC building) or if you can't get to them via video conference you have to reschedule the appointment, which normally would be in about 30 to 60 days. Let's not forget that if you are on MH medication and you are out of them you have to wait until you see your doctor in 30 to 60 days. I'm glad that some of these patients are not on terminal illness or medication that are required to be taken without missing a dosage.Also, their lovely and caring medical clerks and secretaries are so helpful that when you encounter them with this situation or something similar, they tell you they can't do anything. Even when you give them suggestions about how this situation could be solved, they bluntly tell you that is not their problem and you have to wait till you see your doctor.Well it is obvious they missed their training on customer service or they are just naturally rude, disrespectful and don't care about anything else but do the minimum work they can. Just for the benefit of the doubt, maybe they don't have a loved one or actually know someone with mental health issues and are ignorant of how to treat people with these types of conditions.Well anyway, I'm not sure if anything will come out of this. I,m pretty sure Mr Scott Burgess,CEO of David Lawrence Center,doesn't read this kind of review. He told me ADHD isn't real, and it's just a cover up diagnosis for depression. Have been baker acted multiple times, and it's horrendous. They will hold you for however long it takes to get you to leave addicted to some medication. I was told they would keep filing for extra reviews on me until I agreed to take their pills. They harassed me into becoming addicted to sertraline 200mg and abilify 30 mg. I weigh 100 pounds. They just want people addicted to pills so they can stay making money. It's horrendous. There\u2019s no way for you to get in touch with them, they will leave you on hold or even answer and hang up in your face. Trying to reach a nurse or a doctor is a waste of time because they\u2019re too busy laughing it up in the private room rather than doing actual work. If something was wrong, they only way I would hear about it is when I visit after hours. They have too many lawsuits against them and they need to be shut down. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES HERE! The reviews are self explanatory. DLC does the bare minimum, all they want to do is to get people in and out of the facility, whether they are ready or not. Instead of providing a long term diagnoses, they'll quickly diagnose, medicate, and then change it 10 more times, and still have no correct diagnoses. A family member of mine was here, under 10 years old, and sadly this is the toxic cycle she had to experience. I feel like the facility made her worse rather then better. She is showing so many signs of not being ready, yet they release her anyways because the minor child feels like she is ready.. this place is pathetic from the front desk staff, to the nurses, all the way to the top, THE DOCTORS. She was admitted in the middle of the night and had to sleep on the floor; she started her period in the facility and they made her stay in spoiled pants for 12 + hours, she had to beg them for a change of clothes. The treatment for someone who needed help was inhumane. The facility is disgusting. She left more traumatized. I am heartbroken that she was treated so poorly at a facility that is supposed to help.I was told I would be denied visitation if I wore shorts or any revealing clothes, they allowed men in wearing shorts. They emotionally abuse you in there. You see a doctor once a day for 10 minutes and that's it. 20+ are jammed in one room with chaos. You can't even hear the tv because of 20+ talking. There's no therapists. They care about insurance and $$$. They told me many times I would get to leave and then lie and tell me never mind and watch me cry. I was in there for a total of 11 days. I was unable to work and now I'm financially in debt. The people who work there all watch tiktoks on there's phones in front of you and are very unprofessional. I would react badly to whatever they put in my food, (trouble breathing, rapid heart rate) so the staff would tell me I was having a heart attack. They also played this weird audio that sounded like protesting was happening outside. The staff would tell me to get fashion ready and get ready to speak to the reporters outside only for there to be no one outside. This place is cruel and evil. Bathrooms in which you can use female or male and no one is watching who goes in which.Bowel movements smeared across the wall in the bathroom. I tried to tell a staff member about my safety concern and they just ignored it. I asked for crackers 5 hours after I was suppose to get my medication that I take every morning and the lady rolled her eyes at me. Meanwhile it took 6 hours to get my morning medication.... Vital signs taken once at 6am. \"Therapy\" on weekends includes club\/inappropriate music outside for 30 mins. This place is a prison with NO security. It's not SAFE and I don't even know how it's legal. Only saw doctor one time in 7 days.  Slept on blow up mattress.  Went outside on fake grass in enclosure once day for 15 minutes if not by door at exact time then tough.  Treated like incompetent 8 year old throughout.  There was no treatment, 90% of staff made the week as miserable as humanly possible, only got out by court decree when realized no reason for me to be there in first place.  Messed up world we live in where this place is allowed to exist.  Was there 7 months ago, am still traumatized and may forever be. My medication never gets called in on time if at all... I always have to reach out to remind them to send the medication in. Can any of them truthfully relate if so how i believe it in my heart that if they did someone on the inside would think and voice they're opinions on how they could better things up such as have respect be curtiouce help those in need instead of laugh and joke or gossip if they do for what it's worth they charge a ridiculous amout 1,000 plus dollars per day that's highway robbery especially since other facilities with lots more to offer may charge less and work with clientel now of course once your released from this center there's a process you can do inorder to help lower bill but still why volunteers no actual nurces working on floor this non profit organization or whathave you should give people benifit of doughts as for personal hygienes items they don't offer seriously they don't even provide toothbrushes toothpaste etc as for meals they're should be 3 they offer 2 in my opinion prisoners probably get treated better this place owns up to only a name of which when i hear i quinch needless to say i definitely learned alot even throughout one thing for certain is that no matter what not every one is the same and we must go on hoping only for a better change not just because of one's mishalf, possible mistakes, illness but for the valuable of what life is truly worth. As for most who can only rant, rave, review such as myself you never really know what's like unless you been through this yourself or know someone similar if so keep in mind nothing in life is easy no matter the education, history, career, just saying. They let you suffer with kidney stones because their enlightened view that pain relief is a sin, but yet they have no issues shoving anti depressants and sleeping medications down your throat. You are kept in a disgusting and freezing room for 24 hours having to ask to use the restroom, the bathrooms are disgusting with no seats. The doctors are quacks who work for the state with captive patients because they would never make it in a private practice.\n\n\n\nYou are there 24 hours and see the doctor for maybe a few minutes, they tell me to work on \"coping skills\" to deal with chronic kidney stones which are literally more painful than child birth. They don't let you even take your own medicine for the suffering because they want to pretend they know more than real medical doctors, because to them there is literally no medical need for pain relief, and instead offer you worthless ibuprofen and tell you that chronic pain can lead to depression but think they can treat depression without treating the chronic pain (the actual root cause of the poor state of mind). That's how utterly ridiculous these creatures are.\n\n\n\nIt is a horrible experience to force someone in a crisis to sit in a freezing room 24 hours a day with abusive jaded cynical staff, with uncaring medical staff who have no business whatsoever in the medical field with their jaded attitudes. What I need is simple, the ability to control the agonizing symptoms of chronic kidney stones, with that I wouldn't have developed any kind of depression in the first place. I don't need 3-5 different psychiatric and sleeping pills with side effects to treat depression which wouldn't exist if I wasn't in chronic acute pain.\n\n\n\nAlso the Doctors are condescending and rude and always act as if they are just so busy and that it's just not possible to get any progress done with your situation so you can move on. No one forced them to work there, if anyone else acted like this at their job they would be disciplined up to job termination. However they have job security working for the state with a captive practice that is forced to see them. She told me it would be only a 350 dollar deposit for my stay. So I drove 23 hours to go there...obvioualy to good to be true...i got there gave them my deposit which they took right away ANF put in there safe which they seemi ngly co uldnt reopen when I tried to leave...then the next morning they woke me up and said my stay there would cost almost 7,000...tbe director spoke with me very rudely told me that i was told this information on the phone...they never put me on the line with billing...i only spoke with Cassandra the nurse who said my stay would only be 350. After speaking with her I tried to leave and she grabbed me by my shoulders and carried me back to the front...no staff should ever put there hands on you.... they never have me back my deposit I stayed there for maybe a total of 9 hours and they send me a bill for 1300 dollars....please do not go here!!!! Doctor Gomez works in the children's department of the facility or the CSSU, he usually comes in on weekends and checks in with the children on how they're doing. He told one former client who had problems with self harm to \"bite the bullet\" and sent her home. The client at the time was extremely suicidal and was at risk to themselves. She told this to Doctor Gomez yet he did nothing and sent them home. Another client of his suffered with extreme anxiety and depression, he told them that they probably fail in school and don't pay attention. Suggesting the idea that they're stupid. What kind of doctor is this? Another client was ready to go home because they were feeling better but doctor Gomez said they were feeling sad and couldn't go home. Why? The longer the client stays in the hospitalization, the more for his pay check! What a crooked man. I went for an assessment on my own accord and paid myself. The final report issued had many errors that they refused to correct.The report is unusable in it's current form that is flawed. In the 2 years I have been coming here they lost 2 doctors.  It seems they can't keep good staff.  Now suddenly after years of taking my medications they decide that I need to stop taking one,  so the Brand NEW Dr.  who has spend only 5 minutes with me tells  me he is cutting me off and that I need to just cope with my anxiety.  He was rude, and even accused me of abusing my meds.  When I became reactive and began crying and having a panic attack he Threatened me with baker acting me.  Instead of handing me ANY information that I could read to understand why he was making such a drastic change.. He verbally repeated himself over my sobs.  I could not process what he was saying because I was so distraught.. and so he says that I am already suffering from short term memory loss because of my medication.  THEN he begins to offer a NEW medication that I should consider?! .. Sounds like the new big pharma just romanced the agency and they are phasing out something so they can push new drugs..  Which by they way will make me the test dummy.  I am so freaked out by this.   Everything was going well with my current meds.. I have little to no side effects with this particular med.. so why mess with it?   I left the office feeling defeated and abused.  My boyfriend who was in the waiting room could hear me during my visit.. and just as we were leaving there was a cop car and and an abulance pulling into the lot.. I believe if I did not pull myself together I would have been baker acted.  People if you can find another place .. DO IT.   Avoid this place.  They are totally in it for the money and do not care about you at all. So called Patient Relations Dept., is worthless. Oh they offer Urgent Care 24\/7 but no MDs to prescribe an RX, should you need a emergency refill . MONEY MONEY MONEY!   Random urinalysis tests are required.  Thus no insurance ...you pay the 50.00 fee, poor or not.  Such a joke.  They get all sorts of awards, and continue to expand, yet no patient\/customer service.  This joint can drive you nuts, then drive you to drink and you can get alcohol drug treatment next !!  Return calls are returned within 72 hrs on the nurse line. Then it's usually Carol the nasty witch, and you better have all your info together or she'll belittle you something fierce. No LGBT staff.  I can't begin to tell you how many prescriptions have been screwed up.wrong dosage and quantities. Avoid this place like the bubonic plague! Seriously. I missed my first appointment and had to reschedule. they call me the day before my appointment to say that \"I\" did not reschedule with both doctors and my appointment had been canceled. How unprofessional. I told them it was becoming too much of a problem and might have to find someone elsewhere. The woman said if i did not call within a few days my account would be closed. I called back 10 minutes later to reschedule and they said my file was not in the system. i said how is that possible i just called 10 minutes ago. she said she doesnt know and i would have to go through the whole process again. I later found out the woman i originally spoke with closed my account as soon as i hung up. Who does this? that is laziness"}]
